This super soldier is basically a human in peak condition, so it's not going to be as over the top as hurling lightning bolts or swinging from rooftops. They are all quite different from one another, but I'll have to admit, Captain America makes one great video game character. The 3DS version is coming and the HD versions will also be in 3D. While none of the stories are based on the movie, the setting is similar and Chris Evans (face and voice) is in it.Īt Sega's press event, I was able to get some hands-on time with three versions of the game: PlayStation 3, Wii, and Nintendo DS. Well, the game is technically timed to be released with the movie, but the developers (on all platforms) were given the license and freedom to come up with their own game. They look the same for the most part, with only some bright moments in terms of technical terrors or puzzles to solve sticking out from otherwise average design. The majority of Super Soldier takes place in Zolo’s castle, and while there are some sublime moments in design – most of them taking place outside – most of the environments are made up of drab inside rooms and buildings. Captain America looks so badass riding one in the trailer. The fact you never touch a motorcycle hurts too. The game feels like a secondary adventure as a result, and while that’s not a complete disappointment, it would’ve been nice to have some kind of related moment where you actually face off against Hydra’s main guy, rather than his lackey. So the game doesn’t necessarily follow the plot of the film, where Cap takes on Red Skull directly, and that might throw some people off. Unfortunately, the game is missing some of the more clever or interesting challenges, so instead of solving puzzles, you’re just collecting objects. Finding random objects will unlock new challenges and concept art. Instead of the creepy writings of the mysterious Ghost of Arkham, you’ll find the diaries of Baron Zemo. Instead of audio tapes, you’ll find film reels. Most match up in some fashion to an item from Arkham Asylum. ![]() Instead of giving you a reason to explore your environment, you’ll find random items scattered around the levels. ![]() With Cap, you’ve got your shield, and that is it. ![]() Arkham Asylum gave you new gadgets on a regular basis. Captain America attempts to rip off Arkham Asylum’s Riddler Trophies idea, but instead of the Metroid-like progression where you use new items and abilities to gradually unlock or find new secrets, pretty much every single bonus in Captain America is right out in the open, and he only gains a few minor combat moves, which, as mentioned above, are basically worthless.
